Hot Looks for Fall: The New Goth

Couture in the city reports:
Leave your chain wallets and spike-studded go-go boots back in 1997…the new goth is more fabulous fierce than Marilyn Manson couture. For Fall ‘08, instead venture to the dark side with caged high-heels, dark textured tights and vintage inspired lace. Oh yeah, and a latex mini for the truly daring.
Surprised that goth has made a comeback? Don’t be…Mary Kate Olsen has been doing it since last year, and black and navy nail polish were also big back then as well. It was only a matter of time, really. While this look is not ideal for everyone (I’m more into color, thank you very much), brave fashionista’s can really take advantage of this vampy style and go all-out, or just add a few macabre elements to their current look.If you are ready to add some dark details to your fall wardrobe, check out these must-haves for inspiration.....Read more at http://www.coutureinthecity.com/2008/08/11/hot-looks-for-fall-the-new-goth/

Bake-sale meets Marie Antoinette

SWEETIEPIE – A “bake-sale meets Marie Antoinette” themed restaurant is set to open in the West Village and is sure to hit the sweet spot. Owner, Julie Janklow makes sure her restaurant will be fit for fashion princesses and queens alike.

Vintage sliver dining pieces mixed with Pickard China sets the mood for the parlor setting. Over sized lollipops are both décor and dessert as an antique Maison Jansen tea cart circles around the restaurant carrying an array of peppermint meringues, cakes, cupcakes and sundaes.
SWEETIEPIE plans to be a mini palace with pink marble floors and ice-cream parlor chairs, complete with a mad hatter- like mural.
The two-room restaurant with fit the capacity of 74 diners; all willing to kick their smart eating habits aside for high tea. Don't forget to try SWEETIEPIE'S adoring dish- The Sweetiepig Sundae-Victorian rose pudding made with strawberries and a light biscuit.
Their website is currently under construction, however is certainly worth bookmarking for future reference. http://www.sweetiepierestaurant.com/
SWEETIEPIE will open this fall at 19 Greenwich Ave.

Will go Hungry for Clothing

In times of inflation girls must choose what is most important.

A recent survey conducted by www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk revealed that 49% of the British public spend more every month on their appearance than they do on food. While 18% admitted to spending more than half their wages on clothes and accessories.
The best of this survey was that 32% of UK females confess that if push came to shove they’d prefer to go without food to nab that fashion “must-have".
....We certainly spend more money on clothes than food, you have to keep your priorities in check as we are Fashion First Lunch Later.
